Barton Community College Athletic Department announces the election of Shala Giardini, Jimmy Graham, Steve Griffin, and Joel Light to its Sports Hall of Fame.
The induction class features a trio of Cougar Athletic accomplishments occurring first in history, to go along, with a current record holder. Among the individual accomplishments of Graham and Griffin, the duo helped lead the men's basketball program to its first ever Jayhawk West title in 1977 while Light earned the College's first national champion award from his high-flying ability in the 1979 track and field season. Joining the trio of gentleman, women's soccer player Giardini set the 2009 season on fire in her freshman campaign and still stands atop the record book as the most prolific player in program single season and career history.
The Class of 2019 will be enshrined at a 2:00 p.m. induction ceremony Saturday, February 9, in the Kirkman Activity Center located on the Barton Campus. Induction ceremony is free and open to the public. Public attendance also encouraged in honoring the inductees between the women's and men's basketball games versus Dodge City Community College later that evening.
