  • Barton men's soccer earns eleven post season honors #GoBarton

    In a sport that fields eleven players on the pitch at one given moment, the Barton Community College men’s soccer team had eleven of its roster earning postseason honors. Landing eleven on the West Division of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference team, the Cougars also received five of the twenty-two All-Region VI selections.
  • Shootout ends Barton Soccer season for third straight year, Cougars dropped in District Semifinals #GoBarton

    The third time was not the charm as once again the end of the Barton Community College men's soccer team was decided by a shootout. The No. 16 ranked Cougars were just seventy-five seconds from victory in Thursday’s Plains District semifinal against Ranger College, but a surrendered late goal in regulation play sent the teams to overtime. Two scoreless extra periods later led to a dreaded shootout where the Rangers scored on each of their first four shots sending Barton home from the Topeka Sports Complex with a 4-2 score and season ending 14-5-2 mark. Receiving votes in the latest NJCAA poll, Ranger improved to 10-2 on the season in advancing to Friday’s noon championship game with a national tournament bid on the line.

    Sunday’s second round Region VI playoff game in Chanute was everything a soccer fan could wish for in a clean contested double overtime battle as the Barton Community College men’s soccer team came out on top 2-1 at Neosho County Community College. The sixth straight win improves the region’s third seeded Cougars to 14-5-1 on the year while ending the school record season of second seeded Neosho County at 15-4-1.
  • Cougar Soccer advance to 2nd Round of Region VI Playoffs with 5-4 win over Cowley College #GoBarton

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team used an early offensive performance Thursday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex in 1st Round action of the Region VI Playoffs, holding on late in the final minutes with a tremendous defensive effort in a 5-4 win over Cowley College. The Cougars improve to 13-5-1 on the year and advance to the 2nd Round Playoffs while Cowley ends the year at 9-5-2. The Cougars will be back in action as they make the trip to Chanute, KS Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. where they will take on 2nd seeded Neosho County who advanced with a 4-1 victory over 7th seed Northwest Technical College Thursday evening.

  • Cougars' seventh shutout of the season nets 4-0 victory at Northwest Tech #GoBarton

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team registered its seventh shutout of the year in concluding the regular season with a 2-0 victory Monday at Northwest Kansas Technical College. The Cougars put the game winner on the board just four minutes into the contest before tacking on three second half goals in defeating the Mavericks twice in the last five days. The fourth straight victory wraps up the second seeded Cougars’ regular season at 8-3-1 in region play and 12-5-1 overall while Northwest needs a Tuesday victory over Hesston College to make the Region VI playoffs sitting at 5-6 and 7-7-1 on the year.
  • Barton men thwart upset bid with 2-1 victory over Pratt #GoBarton

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team had to come from behind Saturday, scoring an early second half goal to fight off Pratt Community College’s upset bid 2-1 in the final regular season game at the Cougar Soccer Complex. The victory solidifies the Cougars’ second place region standing at 7-3-1 and improving to 11-5-1 overall while Pratt concludes the season 1-9-1 in region play and 1-11-3 on the season.

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team scored in each half Wednesday at the Cougar Soccer Complex but had to hold off a late rally in a 2-1 win over Northwest Kansas Technical College. Having already wrapped up a playoff berth, the victory puts the Cougars in sole control of hosting a first round berth by solidifying their region second placing at 6-3-1 while improving to 10-5-1 overall in sending the fourth place Mavericks to 5-5 in region play and 7-6-1 on the season.

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team posted its region leading sixth shutout of the season Sunday afternoon in Hesston with a 3-0 victory at Hesston College. The season sweep of the Larks improves Barton’s Region VI record to 5-3-1 and 9-5-1 overall while Hesston slips to 2-7 and 7-8-1 on the year.

    The Barton Community College men's soccer team trailed early and never recovered Thursday as No. 8 ranked Cloud County Community College handed the Cougars a 3-1 defeat at the Cougar Soccer Complex. The loss drops Barton to 3-3-1 in conference play, 4-3-1 in Region VI, and 8-5-1 on the season while the conference and region leading T-birds improve to 12-1 overall with 10-0 and 11-0 conference and region marks respectively. The Cougars’ next action comes Saturday with a trip to Hesston College for a Region VI kick-off slated for 7:00 p.m.
  • Cougars break through in shutout victory to sweep season series over Garden City #GoBarton

    Erupting for four second half goals in its earlier season’s meeting, the Barton Community College men's soccer team once again used a strong second half performance against Garden City Community College sending the Broncbusters home Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 defeat at the Cougar Soccer Complex. Barton broke the scoreless deadlock eight minutes into the second frame to snap a near 245 minutes scoreless drought before tacking on another midway through the half while a stout defensive line allowed just one shot towards frame. The victory improves Barton to 3-2-1 in conference play, 4-2-1 in Region VI, and 8-4-1 on the season in dropping Garden City to 3-9 on the season with a 2-6 and 2-7 conference and region record respectively. Barton’s next action will come on Monday with a trip to Goodland, Kansas, for a pivotal second place Region VI contest at 6-4-1 Northwest Kansas Technical College in a 5:00 p.m. kick-off.

    Three first half goals dug the Barton Community College men’s soccer team a big hole Tuesday in Council Bluffs, Iowa, as the Cougars were handed a 5-0 loss to the No. 12 ranked Reivers of Iowa Western Community College. Barton drops to 7-4-1 on the season while Iowa Western wins their third straight improving to 6-2-1. The Cougars will return to conference action on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. kick versus Garden City Community College

    The offensive woes for the Barton Community College men’s soccer team continued on Saturday as the No. 16 ranked Cougars played to a double overtime scoreless draw at Pratt Community College. The conference and region tie leaves Barton at 2-2-1 and 3-2-1 with a 7-3-1 overall record while Pratt continues to search for their win of the year standing at 0-2-2 and 0-4-2 with a season record of 0-5-3. Barton’s reserve squad will take the home pitch on Sunday for a 4:00 p.m. kick against the reserves of McPherson College before the squad heads to Council Bluffs, Iowa, for a Tuesday 2:00 p.m. battle at No. 13 ranked Iowa Western Community College.

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team stumbled in second half play Wednesday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex giving up two goals in a 2-1 defeat to Dodge City Community College. The conference and region loss drops the No. 16 ranked Cougars to 2-2 and 3-2 with a 7-3 overall record while Dodge City picks up their first conference win improving to 1-3-1 with a 2-3-1 region mark and 5-3-3 on the season. Barton will attempt to avoid another squad picking up their first conference victory coming up on Saturday as the Cougars travel to Pratt Community College (0-2-1, 0-4-1, 0-5-2) for a 4:00 p.m. kick-off.

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team dominated both halves of play Tuesday afternoon at Cougar Soccer Complex in a runaway 7-0 victory over Hesston College. Bouncing back from a hard fought road loss on Saturday, the revitalized Cougars put three on the board in first half play against a 25-30mph south wind before tacking on four more in the final frame with another waved off at the buzzer. Dropping four spots in the latest national poll, the No. 18 ranked Cougars improve to 7-2 on the season and 3-1 in region play while dropping Hesston to 1-2 regionally and 5-3 overall. Barton will next travel to Goodland, Kansas, on Friday, taking on Northwest Kansas Technical College in a 5:00 p.m. (CT) kick-off against the 2-3-1 Mavericks.

    In a spirited battle between two perennial powers of the Jayhawk Conference, the #14 ranked Barton Community College men’s soccer team was knocked from the top of the standings Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 loss at nationally receiving votes Cloud County Community College. The Cougars took the early lead in Concordia with Cloud County getting the tying goal less than a minute later before netting the game winner with six minutes left in first half action. The loss drops Barton to 2-1 in Jayhawk play and 6-2 on the season while Cloud County stays unbeaten in conference at 4-0 and to 5-1 overall. Barton’s next action will come Tuesday in doubleheader action at the Cougar Soccer Complex in hosting Hesston College at 4:00 p.m. being preceded by the women’s contest at 2:00 p.m.

    Striking from a variety of attacks by five players in the lineup, the No. 14 ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team scored four unanswered second half goals Wednesday evening to run away with a 5-1 victory at Garden City Community College. The victory improves Barton to 6-1 on the season while sending the Broncbusters to consecutive losses to begin the conference season and 2-5 on the year. Next up for Barton will be a Saturday trip to Concordia in a battle of 2-0 conference and nationally ranked teams as the Cougars take on Jayhawk favorite and 4-1 Cloud County Community College in a 4:00 p.m. kick-off.

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team opened up conference play under the lights Wednesday at Memorial Stadium earning a hard fought 1-0 victory at Dodge City Community College. The No. 14 ranked Cougars’ difference maker came off the head of Victor Gonzalez directing Benjamin Zamora’s thirty-seven yard free kick to the back post with just over four minutes remaining in first half action lifting Barton to 5-1 on the season and sending the Conquistadors to their first loss at 2-1-2. The Cougars next appearance on the turf will be Monday in a home scrimmage against Central Christian College before returning to conference play September 13 at Garden City Community College.

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team rattled the nets in each half for a 2-1 victory over Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Sunday afternoon on the steamy turf of the Cougar Soccer Complex. Shaking off the disappointment of Thursday’s last second road loss, the Cougars improved to 4-1 on the season in their final tune-up for conference play while NOC falls to 2-2. Barton’s next opponent comes Wednesday as the Cougars travel to unbeaten Dodge City Community College, a Conquistador squad who knocked off NOC in Tonkawa on Thursday, riding high into the 7:00 p.m. kick-off at Memorial Stadium with a 2-0-2 record on the season.
  • Barton Soccer teams struggle in Missouri

    If the five hour trip to Sedalia, Missouri, wasn’t long enough, the return trip home grew even longer as the Barton Community College soccer teams returned without a victory in taking on State Fair Community College. In the women’s game the Lady Cougars battled to a double overtime scoreless tie, while the Cougar men despite outshooting the Roadrunners 28-6 fell 1-0 on a last second overtime goal.

    A road victory and two wins over ranked opponents, the Barton Community College men’s team is off to a great start to the 2017 season. Leading in what has been truly a team effort, two freshman Cougars have been recognized this week in being awarded the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference soccer players of the week as Colin Roemer earns the player of the week honor with Luciano Trasolini anchoring the defensive backline to earn the goalkeeper award.
  • Explosive Cougars attack No. 6 Trinidad State 7-2 to complete weekend sweep of ranked opponents #GoBarton

    For the second day in a row the Barton Community College men’s soccer team knocked off a ranked opponent as the Cougars’ 7-2 win over No. 6 ranked Trinidad State Junior College completed the Barton Classic sweep held at the Cougar Soccer Complex. Barton notched its first goal just 1:14 into the contest before adding two more net shakers in the opening ten minutes to claim a 5-0 halftime lead before the teams traded goals in second half action. Receiving votes in the national pre-season poll, Barton improves to 3-0 on the young season as Trinidad State leaves Great Bend with a pair of losses dropping to 1-2 on the season. Next up for the Cougars is a trip to Sedalia, Missouri, on Thursday for a 4:00 p.m. kick at State Fair Community College.
  • Cougars knock off No. 18 Laramie County in Barton Classic opener

    The Barton Community College men’s soccer team scored three unanswered goals Friday morning to knock off No. 18 ranked Laramie County Community College 3-1 in the opening game of the Barton Classic. In game two of the Classic, former Barton head coach Oliver Twelvetrees’ No. 11 ranked Eastern Florida State College also pulled a national ranking upset by putting in a late insurance goal in holding off No. 6 Trinidad State Junior College 4-2.
