No. 4 ranked Lady Cougars collect eight personal bests at Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational #GoBarton

The No. 4 ranked Barton Community College women's track and field team's national qualifying standard list grew to twenty-one by adding another to go along with eight personal bests this past weekend in Lincoln competing in the 43rd annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska.

NJCAA top ranked Latoya Stewart had the highest Lady Cougar finish in the four-year competition packed event, placing runner-up in the 600m in 1:33.59.

Ranked second in the NJCAA, Keosha Sanders led a four pack of Lady Cougars in the 60m dash, placing seventh in 7.57. Deborah Giffard just missed the top ten with an 11th placing, but set a personal best with a 7.66 to now rank 10th best nationally. Rashan Darling also set a new personal best with a 17th place 7.76 to rank 18th while Nijah Roberson's 7.87 was good for 26th.

The 200m produced four personal best times, led by the nation's 7th ranked Asjah Wallace placing tenth in 24.78. Already a national qualifier in the 60m hurdles, Mahendra McWhite secured her second national qualifying standard with a nationals 16th best 25.02 to finish 15th. Roberson, also a national qualifier in the 24th spot, finished 25th in 25.44 with Darling coming in 29th at 25.59.

In the 60m hurdles, third ranked Wallace beat out second ranked McWhite by .09 with a 10th place 8.81 finish. McWhite grabbed the 13th sport at 8.90 and Fiona Barnes reset her personal best effort clocking a 9.61 in finishing 20th.

The Lady Cougars will take the next two weeks in preparation to defend its reigning conference and region indoor titles. The two day multi-event championships will take place Thursday and Friday, February 15-16, in Highland, Kansas, with the remaining championships taking place on Sunday, February 18, at Ahearn Fieldhouse in Manhattan.
