Kenny started and lettered for 2 seasons at Shawnee Heights High School. He was effective as a power hitter, batting .520 as a senior with 8 homers and 45 runs batted in. Kenny earned All City and All Conference honors twice, along with 1st team All State honors as a senior. He also lettered in basketball for 2 years as a junior and senior.
