Barton Community College men’s soccer player Sam McCrillis has been named the KJCCC Verizon Wireless Player of the Week. McCrillis, a sophomore forward from Shawnee, Kansas, was a constant threat against two nationally ranked opponents this past weekend at Cougar Field as he was responsible for three of Barton’s four goals. In Barton’s 2-0 victory Saturday over No. 18 Northwest College, McCrillis scored the Cougar’s first goal of the season just four minutes into the contest then later assisted on Ebu Camara’s goal in the second half. On Sunday McCrillis scored two goals as the Cougars tied No. 19 Otero Junior College 2-2. Getting both goals from Ezequiel Alvarez assists, McCrillis’ highlight goal was a 25 yard blast to give Barton a 2-1 edge midway through the second half.
