The freshman from Ghana led the final two laps of her 5000m race but was passed down the stretch to finish third in a time of 17:15.36. The effort surpassed the school mark of Rachel Juarez’ 17:32.50 set during the 1992 season. Fellow Ghana native sophomore Agnes Abu also had a good day finishing second in the 800m by a narrow one second margin crossing the line at 2:12.25. Barton will head to Hays next Friday competing in the FHSU Open to wrap up the outdoor regular season.
