Gubbels set to play for Cougar baseball next season
The Barton County Community College baseball team signed out-of-state prospect Wade Gubbels to a letter-of-intent to play for the Cougars next season. Gubbels is currently a senior at Norfolk High School in Nebraska where he plays 1st base and does some pitching.

The Barton County Community College baseball team signed out-of-state prospect Wade Gubbels to a letter-of-intent to play for the Cougars next season. Gubbels is currently a senior at Norfolk High School in Nebraska where he plays 1st base and does some pitching.
Gubbels was a member of the inaugural season at Norfolk High School last year when the team started its baseball program, going 8-20. During the year Gubbels hit .326 with 5 homers and 22 RBI as a junior. He also threw in 5 games, posting 6 innings of work and an ERA of 4.67. During the summer Gubbels plays American Legion Baseball, hitting .340 last year with 6 homer and 33 RBI for his club.
Gubbels was also active in football and golf at Norfolk High School, where he maintains a 3.75 GPA and was an All-State Academic pick for the Fall Sports season.
