Barton eSports advances a pair into the final week of the NJCAAE postseason #GoBarton

Post-season play began last Monday for the Barton Community College eSports program with a pair of Cougars remaining in contention heading into the final week of the NJCAAE Playoffs while three seeing their campaigns conclude.

On Monday, Madden 22 participant Chance Costello punched his ticket into the National Championship tilt with duos Kindric Castro and Adam Hardin hours later locking into Thursday's Call of Duty Cold War Gunfight 2v2 semifinals matchup.

Seeded as the top spot In Madden 22 Costello easily dispatched his quarterfinal opponent from Fort Scott Community College 55-0 and 33-0 in advancing to Monday's semifinals. Entering with a perfect 9-0 mark facing another Greyhound opponent, Costello took the early edge earning an opening 34-25 victory. Holding the 1-0 match advantage, Costello rode the momentum into the second game cruising to the clean sweep with a 31-6 victory. The freshman will look to secure the program's second Madden crown in Saturday's 7:00 p.m. National Championship game against undefeated third seeded Suffolk County Community College.

The duo of Kindric and Hardin nearly pieced together a perfect sweep in last Thursday's opening round of the NJCAAE postseason breezing to a 4-1 victory over Bryant & Stratton College (WI). The two-pack edged out Monday's best of seven map victories over in state rival Hutchinson Community College 4-2. Finishing runner-up in the fall season and sitting one game from making another Championship appearance, the pair will encounter top seeded Calhoun Community College Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. with the victor moving into Saturday's National Championship.

Defending Madden Fall Champion Davon Morris got off to a strong postseason start sweeping his Hutchinson Community College opponent 18-0 and 34-26. The sophomore however would have his title defense and perfect season come to an end in Monday's semifinals falling to Suffolk County Community College 31-3 and 54-14. Morris bounced back Tuesday evening dismantling his Fort Scott Community College opponent 42-0 and 50-6 adding a bronze medal to the trophy case closing his spring season at 10-1 and overall combined record at 23-1.

Other individual playoff results saw both Kaleb Lininger and Anthony Twiggs falling in their opening round matchups in NBA2K 3-0 and 3-1 to Dallas College Mountain View and St. Clair Community College concluding their seasons at 8-2 respectfully.
