The Barton County Community College men's basketball team rolled to a pair of wins to start the 2001-02 season. The Cougars won a pair of games at the Pepsi Classic held at Barton County over the weekend.
The No. 6 ranked Cougars defeated Wisconsin Fox Valley, 130-52 Friday night then defeated St. Catherine (Kent.), 106-82 Saturday night.
Highlights
Five Cougars scored in double figures in the win over Fox Valley, led by Rapheal Posey with 24. The sophomore guard came in off the bench and hit 6-of-10 treys in the game. Robert Whaley added 21 points and 12 rebounds. Omari Westley also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Barton County pulled away from St. Catherine in the final 10 minutes for the 24-point win. Three Cougars recorded double-doubles in the contest, paced by sophomore Jason Carter with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Westley and freshman Aaron Patterson added 18 points and 13 rebounds apiece.
Next Up
Barton County will travel to Oklahoma for three games this week. The slate begins Thursday when the Cougars head to Wilburton to take on Eastern Oklahoma at 8 p.m. Barton County will head to Seminole for a Classic over the weekend, taking on the Oklahoma Baptists JV at 6 p.m. Friday then tangling with Seminole State at 7 p.m. Saturday.
