Five Barton women's soccer players earn All-KJCCC and All-Region 6 Division I honors #GoBarton
Nagano, Aguirre headline selections as Barton places five on postseason list
Five members of the Barton Community College women's soccer team earned Division I All-KJCCC and All-Region 6 honors recognition for their standout play during the 2025 campaign.
Headlining the group were sophomore midfielder Sara Aguirre and freshman defender Ayaka Nagano, each named to the first team. They were joined by sophomore forward Katie Potter, redshirt freshman midfielder Maki Kimura, and sophomore midfielder Saki Takaki, all earning second-team distinction.
Their collective impact helped guide the Cougars to a fourth-place KJCCC finish at 6–6–2, a 12–8–2 overall record, and a Region 6/Plains District Tournament semifinal appearance before falling to top-seeded and seventh-ranked Cowley College.

Sara Aguirre – 1st Team All-KJCCC / All-Region 6
Sophomore, Midfielder - Villavicencio, Colombia
A dynamic playmaker and Barton's offensive engine, Aguirre led the Cougars in both goals and points despite missing the final two matches due to injury. The 5'3" sophomore scored in seven matches, including multi-goal performances against Garden City, Coffeyville, and Western Nebraska. Her creativity, technical precision, and attacking instinct fueled Barton's midfield all season, finishing with 12 goals, 3 assists, and 27 points. A cornerstone of the Cougars' top-four conference finish, Aguirre concludes the season among Barton's top 20 all-time goal scorers.
Ayaka Nagano – 1st Team All-KJCCC / All-Region 6
Freshman, Defender - Tokyo, Japan
Anchoring the back line in her first collegiate season, Nagano proved to be a vital two-way contributor for Barton's defensive unit. The 5'2" freshman started nearly every contest, logging minutes in all contests while balancing reliability in the defensive third with timely offensive impact. A composed presence, Nagano tallied four goals and one assist for nine points on the year — including a pair of scores in her collegiate debut in the season-opening win over Western Iowa Tech earning KJCCC Player of the Week honors, later delivering the game-tying strike in a late-season draw against Hutchinson. Her blend of technical precision, pace, and defensive discipline helped solidify a Barton back line that produced six shutouts including a 1-0 first round victory advancing the Cougars advance to the semifinals.
Katie Potter – 2nd Team All-KJCCC / All-Region 6
Sophomore, Forward - Birmingham, England
A steady attacking presence on the front line, Potter provided scoring depth and creativity in the attacking third. The 5'3" sophomore not only scored the team's second most goals (7) but tied for the team lead with 7 assists, producing a squad second most 21 total points.
A week five KJCCC and NJCAA Player of the Week award winner, Potter's season featured key multi-point outings highlighted by a five-point road performance at Lamar and a hat trick showing in the regular season finale win over Kansas Wesleyan JV.
Maki Kimura – 2nd Team All-KJCCC / All-Region 6
Redshirt Freshman, Midfielder - Kyoto, Japan
Returning strong from injury sidelining her freshman campaign, Kimura was a key component of the Cougars' midfield providing a dependable blend of possession and scoring punch. The 5'4" midfielder ranked third on the team in points and tied for second in goals, showcasing a consistent attacking influence throughout conference play.
The week nine KJCCC Player of the Week recipient registered goals in six matches, highlighted by a season-best seven-point effort featuring a hat trick and an assist in Barton's 5-0 win over Dodge City.
Saki Takaki – 2nd Team All-KJCCC / All-Region 6
Sophomore, Midfielder - Shimane, Japan
A steady and composed presence in Barton's midfield, Takaki delivered balance and consistency while providing key offensive support throughout the season. The 5'6" sophomore tied for the team lead in assists and ranked fourth in points, contributing timely playmaking across both non-conference and league competition. Takaki produced assists in five different matches and found the net in wins over Dodge City and Tabor. Her poise, field vision, and technical consistency were vital in maintaining Barton's midfield stability and transition rhythm during the team's postseason run.
