Testoni's first team selection becomes 29th Barton Volleyball player receiving All-America honor #GoBarton

Mylena Testoni of the Barton Community College volleyball team has been announced as a first team selection of the 2020-21 NJCAA Division I Volleyball All-America awards.

The KJCCC and Region VI Most Valuable Player becomes the 22nd first team selection in program history and the 29th overall while giving Barton its second straight national distinction following Karina de Oliveira's honorable mention honor last season.

Testoni was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week award six times in the eleven weeks of voting. Not a big stat stuffer regarding total numbers, the 5'9" Testoni still ranked fourth in total kills but was most effective in her efficiency by leading Region VI in hitting percentage through most of the season. Posting a match high 19 kills and 32 digs March 6 at Butler, Testoni reached double digits kills in seventeen matches in completing the season on a .339 attack.

The top offensive threat for Barton was also solid defensively, recording six blocks in a match twice during the season and recording a team high 15 double-double kill-dig efforts. For the season, Testoni recorded the 8th most digs in a single season at 474, ranking behind teammate Hanna Miller's 7th best program effort of 494.

Finishing the conference season in second place at 14-2, Testoni helped led the Cougars to the Region VI/Plains District title, going on to make their 23rd nation-leading Division I Volleyball Championship Tournament appearance. The Cougars had their season end at 25-6 following a pair of four-set losses to eventual national runner-up Snow College and 9th place finisher Northeastern Junior College.
