Bio

Sarah Simmons enters her fourth season as Barton’s assistant volleyball coach.

Program Success:
- 2 NJCAA Division I National Tournament appearances (2024, 2025)
- 2 Region 6/Plains District Division I Championships (2024, 2025)
- 3 KJCCC Division I Regular Season Championships (2023, 2024, 2025)

Player Honors:
- 5 NJCAA All-America selections
- 2 AVCA All-America selections
- 2 KJCCC Division I Player of the Year selections
- 2 KJCCC Division I Freshman of the Year selections
- 18 All-KJCCC and All-Region 6 selections (10 First Team, 6 Second Team, 2 Honorable Mention)

Since joining the Barton coaching staff in 2023-24, Simmons has helped the Cougars compile a 90-7 overall record and a 43-5 mark in KJCCC Division I play, capturing three consecutive KJCCC Division I regular season championships and back-to-back Region 6/Plains District Division I titles.

In 2025, Simmons helped guide Barton to a 31-7 overall record and a 15-1 conference mark as the Cougars secured a third consecutive conference championship before winning a second straight Region 6/Plains District Division I title to earn a second consecutive berth in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.

Simmons has played an integral role in the development of Barton student-athletes, helping produce five NJCAA All-America selections, two AVCA All-America selections, two KJCCC Division I Players of the Year, two KJCCC Division I Freshmen of the Year and 18 All-KJCCC and All-Region 6 selections.

Simmons and her husband, Rafael, who enters his fifth season as head coach of the Barton men’s soccer program and third season leading the women’s soccer program, have two sets of twins, Mikael and Mylah, and Annika and Avery.
