Another strong pitching performance not enough as Cougars swept in series
Getting its second straight complete game solid pitching performance, the Barton Community College baseball team couldn't find the offense in losing 3-0 Friday to Cloud County Community College at Lawson-Biggs Field. Barton, who has lost seven straight including a seventeen inning scoring drought, falls to 6-10 in conference play and 9-17 overall while Cloud improves to 5-7 in conference and 12-14 overall. The Cougars will step out of conference play on Tuesday in hosting the junior varsity squad from Bethany College. First pitch for the doubleheader at Lawson-Biggs Field scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Sophomore Skylar Hill took his first loss of the season to drop to 1-1 in pitching his fourth 100-plus pitch game. Hill scatter ten hits and struck out eleven in nine innings surrendering a single run in the fourth and two in the sixth.
Trevor Rinne was equally impressive for the Thunderbirds limiting the Cougars to eight hits and striking out three.
A pair of freshman led the Cougars in hitting as Eric Benson got three of Barton's hits in his five at bats while Braxton Byfield went 2-for-4.
