The Barton Community College baseball team returned to Lawson-Biggs Field for its second consecutive day of competition splitting its conference doubleheader Thursday with Colby Community College. The conference leading Trojans jumped out to a ten run lead in game one winning 11-2 but the Cougars battled back in game two scoring in six of its eight innings at the plate including a six run third inning to split the twin bill with a 13-7 win. The split leaves Barton to 14-16 in Jayhawk Conference play and 28-24 overall while preventing Colby from clinching the conference crown moving to 22-8 and 37-13 on the year. The sixth place Cougars will play its final home games of the season on Sunday as the teams will wrap up their four-game series with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.

The Barton Community College baseball team split its four-game series at Seward County Community College this past weekend. The Cougars rebounded on Saturday from a six inning 11-1 loss capturing the nightcap in a high scoring 17-12, then rallied for five final inning runs stealing Sunday’s first game 11-9 before faltering to a 10-0 seven inning loss to wind up the weekend. The weekend leaves Barton in the sixth spot in conference play at 13-15 and 27-22 on the season while Seward County remains a spot ahead of the Cougars at 16-12 and an identical 27-22 overall record. Next up for the Cougars will be a mid-week non-conference contest hosting national receiving votes Hutchinson Community College before wrapping up the regular season next weekend against first place Colby Community College. First pitch for Wednesday’s nine inning game at Lawson-Biggs Field set for 5:00 p.m. while the weekend series slated for 1:00 p.m.

The Barton Community College baseball team pounded Hesston College for seven first inning runs Tuesday evening in Hesston coasting the rest of the way for a 10-0 non-conference victory. Winning 14-2 earlier in the season in Great Bend, the victory was the second time this season the Cougars put away the Larks in a game shortened seven innings. The win improved Barton to 25-20 on the season dropping Hesston to 14-33. The Cougars return to conference action this weekend heading to Liberal in facing Seward County Community College in a four-game series with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch slated for both Saturday and Sunday’s doubleheader.

Sunday’s trip to Hutchinson’s Hobart-Detter Field brought back the what if moments for the Barton Community College baseball team as again the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College produced two key big innings to sweep the Cougars 7-5 and 7-4. In a near replay of Saturday’s game one, Barton and Hutchinson were locked up in a sixth inning tie before the Blue Dragons plated five and held off the Cougars' seventh inning rally to win the opener. Hutchinson then went on to score four in the third inning of the series finale proving to be the difference in the three run victory. The weekend series leaves the Cougars at 9-11 in conference play and 21-18 overall while Hutchinson is atop the standings at 17-7 and 27-12. Barton will step out of conference play on Tuesday for a nine inning contest at Bethany College before a weekend conference series at Lawson-Biggs Field against Pratt Community College.

Last season the mid-week matchup with Hesston College left the Cougars scratching their heads after taking an eleven run beating from the Larks. Tuesday night at Lawson-Biggs Field the Barton Community College baseball team flipped the script revenging the loss with a 14-2 seven inning shortened victory. Scoring in all but one of their six innings, the 19-11 Cougars blew the game open with a four run fourth putting the final dagger in with twin three run innings in the final two frames dropping Hesston to 10-20 on the season. The Cougars return to conference action this weekend hosting Garden City Community College in a four-game series with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch slated for both Saturday and Sunday’s doubleheader.

Looking to rebound from its first two conference losses of the season a day prior, the Barton Community College baseball team came up on the short end Saturday at Dodge City Community College. Getting strong pitching performances and outhitting the Conquistadors for the second day in a row, the Cougars couldn’t generate enough offense dropping 3-1 and 3-2 decisions as Dodge City swept the four-game weekend series. The losses send Barton to an 8-4 mark in the Jayhawk and 18-11 overall with Dodge City improving to 11-5 in the conference and 23-8 overall. The Cougars will step out of conference play with a 6:00 p.m. Tuesday matchup with Hesston College at Cougar Field before hosting Garden City Community College next weekend for another conference four-game series.

The Barton Community College baseball team got back to its winning ways Sunday taking a doubleheader over MCC-Longview 4-0 and 6-5 at Lawson-Biggs Field. Getting three runs in the fourth leading to the game one win, the Cougars’ five run lead in the nightcap was erased in the final two innings before a bases loaded walk-off single won the nightcap in ten innings. The fourth walk off win of the year improves the Cougars to 18-7 on the season while dropping MCC-Longview to 8-15. Barton will return to conference play on Friday beginning a two-day four-game set at Dodge City Community College. First pitch for each day’s doubleheader at Cavalier Field slated for 1:00 p.m.

Knocked off its perch from a fourteen game win streak, the Barton Community College baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep to Division II No. 13 ranked North Iowa Area Community College Thursday at Lawson-Biggs Field. Scoring ten runs in the first three innings North Iowa would take game one 12-6, then plated three in the extra frame due in part to two Barton errors grabbing an 8-5 eight inning nightcap victory. As the Trojans pounded out twenty-four hits in the two game series, the Cougars could only muster fifteen hits while aiding in the losses with a combined eight errors on the day. The non-conference losses drop Barton to 16-7 overall while North Iowa improves to 13-5. The Cougars will have a day off before beginning a four-game weekend series versus Metropolitan Community College-Longview. Saturday’s first pitch at Lawson-Biggs Field slated for 2:00 p.m. with Sunday’s start time at 12:00 p.m.

Even an hour and a half rain delay Sunday at Lawson-Biggs Field couldn?t slow down the Barton Community College baseball team as the Cougars took two more games from Butler Community College sweeping the weekend series. The Cougars got a masterful pitching performance from Jackson Rose in winning 5-0 then put up a seven run fifth inning taking the nightcap 14-10. The victory is the fourteenth straight for the Cougars improving to 8-0 in conference play and 16-5 overall while Butler begins its conference season 0-4 dropping to 10-11 on the season. Barton will step away from conference play for its next six games beginning Thursday as the Cougars host North Iowa Area Community College in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader before a weekend home series versus Metropolitan Community College-Longview.

The Barton Community College baseball team trailed in the final innings of both games Saturday at Lawson-Biggs Field rallying for a doubleheader sweep over Butler Community College. The Cougars took game one 4-3 on a walk-off double then in the nightcap needed another rally in the ninth inning before stealing the game 6-5 in eleven innings. In capturing its sixth come-from-behind win of the season, the unsung heroes amongst the clutch offensive execution was the Barton bullpen pitching of Taylor Langston and Mason Hiser closing out a combined 5.2 innings, scattering three hits, and striking out seven batters giving the offense a chance. The victory is the twelfth straight for the Cougars improving to 6-0 in conference play and 14-5 overall while Butler drops its conference opening day slipping to 10-9 on the season. The teams will wrap up the four game series with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday.

The Barton Community College baseball team scored early and often Wednesday evening at Lawson-Biggs Field winning 15-3 taking their second run-rule victory over Brown Mackie College in the last week. Defeating the Lions 13-3 a week ago, the Cougars erased an early run deficit with five runs through the first three innings before breaking it open with an eight run fourth inning. Winning their tenth straight game Barton improves to 12-5 on the season while keeping Brown Mackie winless dropping to 0-18. Barton will return to conference action this weekend as Butler Community College comes to Lawson-Biggs Field for a four game set with Saturday and Sunday’s first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m.

The Barton Community College baseball team opened up conference play this past weekend in Concordia getting a four-game sweep at Cloud County Community College. On Saturday the Cougars rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh to steal the opener 7-4 then took the nightcap 10-1 behind a six run fifth inning. Looking for the sweep on Sunday Barton put up a fourth inning ten spot winning game one 15-4 before scoring nine in the seventh for the clinching 15-7 series finale. The ninth straight victory improves the Cougars to 11-5 while dropping Cloud County to 2-15 on the season. Barton will have a mid-week non-conference contest this Wednesday in a 5:00 p.m. nine inning affair at Lawson-Biggs Field before also hosting Butler Community College in a four-game weekend conference set beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

The Barton Community College baseball team needed two rallies Sunday at Lawson-Biggs Field for a pair of victories over Western Nebraska Community College sweeping the weekend four-game series. Scoring eleven runs in the final three innings of the opener, a five run home half of the sixth claimed a 13-10 victory while a six run bottom of the seventh comeback stole the series finale 11-10. Barton’s rallies improve the Cougars to 6-5 on the season while WNCC leaves Great Bend with a 3-11 record. Barton’s next contest will come this Wednesday in a 5:00 p.m. nine inning affair at Lawson-Biggs Field before heading to Concordia for the weekend’s conference opening four game series at Cloud County Community College.

Seven games into the season and the Barton Community College baseball team finally got to enjoy the comfort of playing at home, christening Lawson-Biggs Field for the 2016 with a pair of wins Saturday over Western Nebraska Community College. The Cougars put twelve runs on the board through the first four innings of game one including a seven run fourth then walked away with a 15-5 sixth inning three-run homerun. Combining for twenty-six hits in game one, both kept the hot bats alive in game two getting twelve hits each with Barton stringing enough for two three-run innings holding on for a 7-5 nine inning nightcap. The victories improve the Cougars to 4-5 on the season dropping the WNCC Cougars to 3-9. The teams will wrap up their four-game series on Sunday with a pair of seven inning contests beginning at 12:00 p.m.

The Barton Community College baseball team scored twelve runs in the final three innings Sunday winning 17-7 in a walk-off shortened seven innings over Highland Community College. The victory was the second over the Scotties on the weekend racking up thirty-two runs and earned the Cougars a split of its trip to Poteau, Oklahoma, having lost a pair to host Carl Albert State College. Barton will return to Oklahoma for its next weekend series playing three games at Rose State College in Midwest City beginning on Saturday.

Bouncing back from Friday's heartbreaking season opening loss, the Barton Community College baseball team split its games Saturday in Oklahoma, opening the day with a win before dropping the second. The Cougars put runs on the board in six of the seven innings in the opener clubbing Region VI member Highland Community College 15-3 before falling again to the opportune host Carl Albert State College 3-1. Barton will wrap up its three-day trip to Poteau taking on the Scotties of Highland again in an 11:00 a.m. first pitch.
