Barton’s Campos named men’s soccer goalkeeper of the week
Barton Community College men’s soccer Mauricio Vargas Campos has been named the KJCCC Verizon Wireless Goalkeeper of the Week. Campos, a freshman from Jersey City, New Jersey, recorded another solid week helping the Cougars to two road conference victories. In Barton’s 2-1 victory last Wednesday against Coffeyville Community College, Campos’ lone surrender of goal occurred during a defensive breakdown allowing for a one-on-one situation. For the week Campos saved ten shots on goal and recorded his fourth shutout victory including the Cougars’ 2-0 win over Allen Community College last Friday. Barton will have the week off before returning to southeast Kansas for back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday. The Cougars will play Neosho Community College at 6:00 p.m. Saturday and wrap up the trip on Sunday with a 3:00 p.m. game at Independence Community College.
