Mavericks upset No. 10 Cougars 2-1

Fresh off moving up the national rankings to No. 10, the Barton Community College men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Northern Oklahoma College – Tonkawa this afternoon in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. The Cougars found themselves trailing 1-0 thirteen minutes into the contest until a Ezequiel Alvarez to Sam McCrillis connection thirty-seconds before halftime sent the teams to intermission locked at one. In a second half stalemate, the NOC Mavericks finally broke through with nine minutes remaining with the game winner and sent the Cougars home with 8-2-1 record on the season. Barton returns to conference play this Saturday at Great Bend High School in a battle of undefeated conference foes set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. Cowley, 6-0 in Jayhawk play owns the top of the standings while the 5-0 Cougars are a half game behind.
