The Barton Community College men’s soccer team landed nine players on the recently released Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and Region VI selection teams. The nine helped lead the Cougars to a 13-2-1 record going 10-2 in region play in concluding Head Coach Mike Brown’s first year at the helm ranked No. 14 in the NSCAA and No. 20 in the NJCAA final polls.
The Barton Community College men’s soccer team closed out the regular season Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex with its eighth shutout of the season with an 8-0 victory over Northwest Kansas Technical College. Scoring two goals in two minutes to lead at the halftime break, Barton sent waves of Cougars on to the pitch exploding for six second half net shakers for the second time this season in cruising over an exhausted Maverick squad. Barton concludes the regular season at 6-2 in conference play and with Saturday’s regional victory improved to 10-2 and 12-2 on the season. Northwest Tech, who won a hard fought 3-2 regional contest Friday night in Dodge City, see their playoff hopes diminished falling to the fifth spot at 4-7-1 and 5-10-2 overall.

Bruce Turner of the Barton Community College men’s soccer team has been awarded the KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week award for week seven. Turner becomes the fourth Cougar to earned conference honors this season joining Lucas Alves, Mario Ramirez, and fellow goalkeeper Juan Parente.
In a defensive battle between two heavyweights of the Jayhawk Conference, the Barton Community College men’s soccer team came up short in knocking off No. 17 ranked Cloud County Community College falling 2-1 Wednesday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex. With each team’s defense choking the offense for only six combined shots, two decisive Cloud County on frame was the difference while the Cougars lone shot to rattle the net was too little too late. The loss for the Cougars drops Barton to 5-2 on the season and behind the T-birds in the standings at 2-2 while Cloud County solidified its spot at the top sweeping the season series staying unbeaten at 6-0-1 and 8-0-1 on the year. Barton will next embark in a three game road stretch beginning with a 4:00 p.m. kick at Pratt Community College.

Mario Ramirez, who helped lead the Cougars to two victories last week, joined fellow striker Lucas Alves in giving Barton consecutive Player of the Week honors as Juan Parente had earned the goalkeeper honor last week as well.
Bouncing back from last Friday’s disappointing loss in Concordia, the Barton Community College men’s soccer team scored in each half Wednesday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex compiling a 2-0 shutout victory over Dodge City Community College. The Cougars improve to 1-1 in conference play and 3-1 on the season while keeping the Conquistadors winless on the season at 0-2-1 in the West and 0-4-2 on the year. Barton will next turn its sights on Sunday’s home conference opponent as the Cougars look to snap a three game slide against Pratt Community College. Kick off slated for 3:00 p.m. being preceded by the Lady Cougars game at 1:00 p.m.
With their first week of the 2016 season in the books, two Barton Community College men’s soccer players earned conference honors helping the Cougars get off to an 2-0 start to the season. Awarded weekly by the KJCCC, Lucas Alves was voted the conference Player of the Week while Juan Parente earned the Goalkeeper of the Week honor giving the Cougars the sweep.
