The win improves Barton to 5-3 in Jayhawk play and 8-4 overall while sending the Lady Conquistadors to its fourth straight defeat in dropping to 2-6 in conference and 4-6 on the year. The Lady Cougars conclude the fall portion of the schedule on Saturday as Barton travels to Hutchinson Community College (6-2, 8-2) in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The defeat drops Barton to 4-3 in Jayhawk play and 7-4 overall while the Lady Pirates stay unbeaten in conference play atop the standings at 7-0 and 8-1 on the year. Fortunes turn as Barton women fall at unbeaten Cowley #GoBarton

The bid for its third straight knock-off of one of the conference’s big dawgs came up short Saturday in Arkansas City as the Barton Community College women’s team had a season high turnover night in falling 65-56 to Cowley College. Barton’s end to its modest two-game win streak drops the Lady Cougars to 3-2 in Jayhawk play and 6-3 overall while Cowley remains unblemished on the season at 9-0 and tied atop the early standings at 5-0. The Lady Cougars return to the friendly confines of the Barton Gym on Wednesday in hosting Allen County Community College (1-4, 3-6) in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

Lady Cougars lead from wire-to-wire in knocking off No. 8 Seward County #GoBarton

Leading throughout Tuesday’s contest at the Barton Gym, the Barton Community College women’s team knocked off unbeaten No. 8 ranked Seward County Community College 89-80. The victory was the first against a top ten ranked opponent since February 4, 2012, ironically also coming against Seward County, as Barton won by five in Liberal to defeat the No. 6 ranked Lady Saints. Barton improves to 3-1 in Jayhawk play and 6-2 on the year as Seward County drops to 3-1 and 5-1 overall. The Lady Cougars will take on its second unblemished opponent on Saturday as Barton travels to Cowley College (4-0, 8-0) for a 5:30 p.m. tip at the William S. Scott Gym in Arkansas City, Kansas.

Barton women drop first road contest on cold night in Garden City #GoBarton

It was a chilly Wednesday night on the hardwood for the Barton Community College women’s team as the Lady Cougars suffered a dismal shooting night in a 71-51 defeat at Garden City Community College. Shooting just 27% from the field and 56% from the stripe, the Lady Cougars also gave the Broncbusters eighteen extra opportunities in turnovers leading to the loss in Barton’s first road game of the season. Garden City improves to 3-2 on the season in dropping Barton to 4-2 as both teams have split their first two games of the conference season. The Lady Cougars’ next test will come this Saturday as Butler Community College comes to the hill for a 5:30 p.m. tip at the Barton Gym.

Lady Cougars match largest output in conference opening blowout over Colby #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women’s team opened up conference play Saturday night jumping out to a twenty point first quarter lead in blowing out Colby Community College at the Barton Gym 102-65. Matching their largest output of their season opener, Barton improves to 4-1 on the season while dropping Colby to 2-3. The Lady Cougars will have their first taste of action outside the friendly home confines on Wednesday as Barton travels to Garden City Community College on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. tip the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex.

Tale of two nights as Barton women split weekend action at Best Western Booster Club Classic #GoBarton

A tale of two nights for the Barton Community College women’s basketball team as the Lady Cougars split their two games over the weekend’s Best Western and Cougar Booster Club Classic held at the Barton Gym. Getting off to a fast start in Friday night’s first and third quarters leading to a 78-64 win over Redlands Community College, dismal shooting in the same quarters on Saturday led to a 78-63 loss to Northern Oklahoma College-Enid. The Jets finish the Classic with two wins improving to 3-0 on the early season while the Lady Cougars’ weekend split leaves them at 2-1. Barton’s next action comes Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. tip hosting the junior varsity squad from Sterling College in their last tune-up before Saturday’s start of conference play.
