Donanu's record performance earn KJCCC's Player of the Week honor #GoBarton
Donanu's 43 point record highlights week four performances
Regina Donanu of the Barton Community College women's basketball team has been named the week four KJCCC Division I Player of the Week.
Donanu delivered a record-breaking performance last week for Barton, averaging 30.0 points on 50 percent shooting while breaking the program's 25-year-old single-game scoring record.
The sophomore guard opened the week scoring 17 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out three assists against top ranked Dodge City before erupting for 43 points in Saturday's win at Cloud County.
Donanu's record performance came on 13-of-21 shooting, including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc and 14-of-16 at the line, while adding six rebounds and two assists to secure Barton's first conference victory.
The achievement broke Wendy Okeson's 42-point record set in February of 2000, while her 14 made three throws is tied for Barton's fourth most connections in a single game.
Now 1–1 in league play and 3–5 overall, the Cougars used a 28-point first quarter and a 20-point second-half cushion to keep the T-Birds (0–2, 4–3) at arm's length.
The Cougars return home Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. conference matchup against Colby Community College at Fleske Fieldhouse.
