The Barton Community College women's golf team finished second today in the third KJCCC Meet of the season. Following a disastrous opening eighteen holes digging a fourteen shot deficit Sunday at the Coffeyville Country Club, the Lady Cougars gained a stroke in Monday’s final nine holes but came up well short in the comeback. Dodge City Community College captured its second straight conference meet to grab a 2-1 conference lead heading to the spring season scoring a 510 twenty-seven hole combined total to the Lady Cougars’ 523. Coffeyville Community College did not field a complete team and therefore did not register a team score.
The Barton Community College women's golf team had its nine straight conference winning streak snapped Monday in Dodge City as the Lady Cougars fell by seven strokes in the second KJCCC Meet of the season. Trailing by one after Sunday?s nine holes, Barton couldn?t make the needed eighteen hole charge to catch host Dodge City Community College as the Conquistadors protected its home Mariah Hills Golf Course with a 515 to the Cougars? 522. Coffeyville Community College came in third at 572 in the three-team conference meet.
Having an entirely new squad from last season’s Region VI championship season didn’t slow down the Barton Community College women's golf team as the Lady Cougars held off a final day charge to win the first KJCCC Meet of the season. The Lady Cougars, who were protecting their home StoneRidge Golf Club course for the past two days, built a nine stroke eighteen hole lead in Monday’s opening round but had to hold on during Tuesday’s final nine holes winning by just five strokes. The victory kept Barton’s conference winning streak alive as its ninth straight win dates back to the 2013 season. The Lady Cougars finished with a 516 followed by the improved Conquistador squad from Dodge City Community College’s 521 and Coffeyville Community College’s 556.
The Barton Community College women's golf team opened up its 2015-16 season the last couple of days finishing second in the Central Kansas Classic. Held in windy conditions at McPherson’s Turkey Creek Golf Course, the all-freshman Lady Cougar team finished runner-up to top-five nationally ranked Redlands Community College but distancing fellow Jayhawk member Dodge City Community College. Barton finished with a 725 (+157), fifty-two strokes behind Redlands and twenty-six strokes ahead of Dodge City.
