Two big stretches give Cougars 79-69 conference win at Colby; Fletchall gets 200th Barton win

Closing both halves of play with a combined 34-11 advantage, the Barton Community College men’s basketball team earned its first conference road victory with a 79-69 win Sunday at Colby Community College. Trailing by twelve midway through the first half, the Cougars cranked up the defense to spur a 20-4 run to close the half to lead 38-31. A back and forth second half, Barton finally took control with 4:38 remaining as the Cougars outscored Colby 14-7 to capture the Jayhawk West road win. The victory was the 200th of Head Coach Craig Fletchall’s Barton career after winning No. 300 overall last Wednesday. Barton improves to 3-2 and 15-6 overall while Colby drops to 0-5 and 10-11.
