The Barton Community College women's basketball program under first year head coach Alan Clark announces additional Kansas signings for the 2016 Lady Cougar season. Joining already announced Lauren Welsch of Great Bend High School, will be Jordan Clouse of Riley County High School, Ashley Holler of Moundridge High School, and Lincoln High School’s Grace Walford.

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team ran across an angry Hutchinson Community College Saturday night at the Sports Arena as the No. 14 Blue Dragons controlled the final thirty minutes winning 81-59. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Hutchinson while sending Barton into the playoffs on a three game slide. Barton ends the regular season at 6-13 in conference play and 14-16 on the season as Hutchinson controls its destiny for the conference title in Monday’s final regular season game entering at 15-3 in Jayhawk play and 25-3 overall. Next up for Barton will be a road trip to a destination and opponent yet to be named in the first round of the Region VI playoffs. Announcement of the playoff assignment coming Tuesday following the conclusion of Monday night’s final regular season games.

The difference per quarter was slim but when added together it spelled defeat for the Barton Community College women’s basketball team as Cloud County Community College pulled away for a 74-62 win Wednesday night at the Barton Gym. Trailing by five at halftime the Lady Cougars kept things within reach through the third but simply ran out of juice and turned the ball over too many times in the fourth quarter as the T-birds continued their hot streak of winning five straight. The second straight loss for Barton drops the Lady Cougars to 6-12 in conference play and 14-15 overall while Cloud County improves to 11-6 in the Jayhawk and 19-9 overall. Barton will play its final regular season contest this Saturday traveling to No. 14 ranked Hutchinson Community College for a 5:30 p.m. tip at the Sports Arena. The Lady Cougars will begin Region VI tournament action on the road Thursday, February 25, at an opponent yet to be determined.

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team dug an early hole Saturday night in Liberal dropping an 82-65 contest at Seward County Community College. Receiving votes in the national poll, the Saints scored the first nine points and never looked back building an early third quarter twenty-seven point lead going on to win their fourth straight in the series. The loss snapped Barton’s two game win streak dropping the Lady Cougars to 6-11 in conference play and 14-14 overall while Seward County improves to 10-5 in the Jayhawk and 18-7 overall. With only two remaining games in the regular season, Barton will play its final home contest this coming Wednesday as the Lady Cougars host Cloud County Community College in a 5:30 p.m. tip with sophomore recognition taking place immediately following the game.

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team held off a late charge Saturday night at the Barton Gym in knocking off Dodge City Community College 62-57. The Lady Cougars only trailed early in the contest building up a ten point lead early in the fourth quarter keeping Dodge City at arm’s length to win their fourteenth straight over the Conquistadors at the Barton Gym. The victory gets the Lady Cougars back to the .500 mark at 13-13 while improving to 5-10 in conference play and 12-13 overall while Dodge City drops to 16-9 and 6-8 in the Jayhawk. Barton will next hit the road for its next two games beginning with a Wednesday trip to Colby Community College for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off. The Lady Cougars will then head to Seward County Community College next Saturday before hosting its final regular season contest on Wednesday, February 17.

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team rallied from an eleven point second half deficit to pull off a 70-66 upset last night at the Barton Gym over Coffeyville Community College. Shooting over 43% for the first time in seven games and closing on a 19-4 run, the victory over the nationally receiving votes Ravens ends a three game slide for Barton improving to 4-9 in the Jayhawk Conference and getting back to the .500 mark at 12-12 while dropping Coffeyville into a third place conference tie at 10-3 and 18-6 overall. The Lady Cougars will next head to second place Garden City Community College for a 5:30 p.m. tip at the Dennis Perryman Gymnasium.

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team had an effective game plan for Saturday night’s tilt at the Barton Gym but Hutchinson Community College proved why it’s a highly nationally ranked team adjusting to every chess move as the No. 8 Blue Dragons rolled to a 78-56 win. The loss drops Barton to 3-9 in conference play with its third straight loss and sinks below the .500 mark for the first time this season at 11-12. Hutchinson’s victory keeps the Blue Dragons atop the conference standings at 11-1 while improving to 21-1 on the season. Barton’s next opponent is also near the top of the standings as the 18-5 and 10-2 third place Ravens of Coffeyville Community College visit the Barton Gym for a 5:30 p.m. tip on Monday.

The victory snapped a four game Barton win streak over Dodge City including a two game streak on the Conquistadors’ home court as the Lady Cougars lost for the fifth time in conference play by six or less points in dropping to 2-6 in Jayhawk play and 10-9 overall while Dodge City improves to 5-3 and 15-4 on the season. Getting back to its defensive roots the Barton Community College women’s basketball team put Neosho County Community College in second half lockdown Saturday in Chanute, Kansas, as the Lady Cougars pulled away in the final fifteen minutes winning 60-47. Leading by two at the break, Barton never trailed in the game and was tied only twice early in the third quarter as the Lady Cougars held Neosho to only sixteen total second half points enroute to the victory. Barton improves to 2-4 in conference play and 10-7 on the season while sending Neosho to its fourth straight loss dropping to 1-6 in Jayhawk play and 3-7 overall. The Lady Cougars grabbed control in the third quarter extending a five-point halftime advantage with a 12-2 run leading by as much as seventeen in cruising through the final ten moments. Barton improves to 1-3 in Jayhawk play and 9-6 overall dropping Allen County to 0-5 and 4-11 on the season. For the fourth time this season victory escaped the grasp of the Barton Community College women’s basketball team as the Lady Cougars dropped a heart breaking 58-56 defeat Saturday to Cowley College at the Barton Gym. Leading by one with seventy-eight seconds, the Lady Cougars went scoreless the rest of game committing a costly turnover and foul down the stretch in suffering its second conference loss in three games with victory within reach in the closing moment of play. The loss drops Barton to 0-3 in Jayhawk play and 8-6 on the season going into the holiday break while Cowley remains unbeaten in conference play improving to 4-0 and 13-2 on the season. The Lady Cougars’ next game will come Saturday, January 2, at Allen County Community College with its next home game coming Wednesday, January 6, hosting Independence Community College.

Second half troubles spelled disaster Saturday afternoon at the Power Plant as the Barton Community College women’s basketball team was blown out in the final twenty minutes dropping their second straight conference game losing 63-43 at No. 15 Butler Community College. The Lady Cougars led by seven in the first half but were outscored by twenty-two points in the final twenty minutes to drop its second consecutive road game to start conference play and sinks to 8-5 on the season. Bouncing back from a home opening loss on Wednesday, the Lady Grizzlies improve their season record to 11-2. Barton will have a week from competition until hosting Cowley College on Saturday in a 3:30 p.m. tip at the Barton Gym.

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team came up a point shy in their 2015 Jayhawk conference opener Wednesday night falling 57-56 at Pratt Community College. The loss was the fourth straight at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena dropping Barton to 8-4 on the season while Pratt improves to 7-3. The Lady Cougars will head to El Dorado on Saturday for their next contest playing at Nol. 15 ranked Butler Community College in a 2:00 p.m. tip at the Power Plant.

One night after nearly pulling off an upset of a team just outside the nation’s top twenty-five, the Barton Community College women’s basketball team needed a late comeback Saturday to earn an 87-82 overtime victory over Otero Junior College. Splitting the weekend games at the Barton Gym of the Best Western Booster Club Thanksgiving Classic, the Lady Cougars avenged an earlier season defeat to the Lady Rattlers at Otero’s home classic improving to 8-3 wrapping up the non-conference portion of the schedule. Barton will now turn attention to the rugged Jayhawk Conference grind opening with consecutive road games beginning Wednesday at Pratt Community College followed by a Saturday trip Butler Community College.

Friday night at the Barton Gym wasn’t repeat record setting performance of two days prior but it was another dominating performance by the Barton Community College women’s basketball team in doubling up the junior varsity squad of Bethany College 94-46. The Lady Cougars broke open a tight start to the game closing the last minute and a half of the first quarter on a 12-0 run then put it away with a 24-6 third quarter going on to win its sixth straight. Improving to 7-2 on the season, Barton will have a week off from competition before hosting the Best Western Booster Club Classic Thanksgiving Classic on November 27-28.

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team battled back from an eight point deficit Saturday then held off Murray State College down the stretch winning 61-60 at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in the Hutch Pawn and Jewelry Classic. The fourth straight victory improves Barton to 5-2 on the season sending the Aggies to their second straight loss having squandered a thirteen point lead on Friday falling by five to No. 3 Hutchinson dropping to 3-3 on the season. The Lady Cougars’ next action will come at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday against the junior varsity squad from Sterling College in the first of a four-game non-conference home stand before beginning conference play December 2nd on the road.

The Barton Community College women’s basketball team nearly pulled the upset over nationally receiving votes Northern Oklahoma College-Enid falling 79-77 Saturday night at the Barton Gym. Splitting their two contests in the Best Western Pizza Hut Classic, Barton will embark on their first road trip of the season heading to La Junta, Colorado, for the Otero Classic held Friday and Saturday.
