In a sport that fields eleven players on the pitch at one given moment, the Barton Community College men’s soccer team had eleven of its roster earning postseason honors. Landing eleven on the West Division of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference team, the Cougars also received five of the twenty-two All-Region VI selections.
Sunday’s second round Region VI playoff game in Chanute was everything a soccer fan could wish for in a clean contested double overtime battle as the Barton Community College men’s soccer team came out on top 2-1 at Neosho County Community College. The sixth straight win improves the region’s third seeded Cougars to 14-5-1 on the year while ending the school record season of second seeded Neosho County at 15-4-1.
The Barton Community College men’s soccer team registered its seventh shutout of the year in concluding the regular season with a 2-0 victory Monday at Northwest Kansas Technical College. The Cougars put the game winner on the board just four minutes into the contest before tacking on three second half goals in defeating the Mavericks twice in the last five days. The fourth straight victory wraps up the second seeded Cougars’ regular season at 8-3-1 in region play and 12-5-1 overall while Northwest needs a Tuesday victory over Hesston College to make the Region VI playoffs sitting at 5-6 and 7-7-1 on the year.
In a spirited battle between two perennial powers of the Jayhawk Conference, the #14 ranked Barton Community College men’s soccer team was knocked from the top of the standings Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 loss at nationally receiving votes Cloud County Community College. The Cougars took the early lead in Concordia with Cloud County getting the tying goal less than a minute later before netting the game winner with six minutes left in first half action. The loss drops Barton to 2-1 in Jayhawk play and 6-2 on the season while Cloud County stays unbeaten in conference at 4-0 and to 5-1 overall. Barton’s next action will come Tuesday in doubleheader action at the Cougar Soccer Complex in hosting Hesston College at 4:00 p.m. being preceded by the women’s contest at 2:00 p.m.
Striking from a variety of attacks by five players in the lineup, the No. 14 ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team scored four unanswered second half goals Wednesday evening to run away with a 5-1 victory at Garden City Community College. The victory improves Barton to 6-1 on the season while sending the Broncbusters to consecutive losses to begin the conference season and 2-5 on the year. Next up for Barton will be a Saturday trip to Concordia in a battle of 2-0 conference and nationally ranked teams as the Cougars take on Jayhawk favorite and 4-1 Cloud County Community College in a 4:00 p.m. kick-off.

Leading in what has been truly a team effort, two freshman Cougars have been recognized this week in being awarded the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference soccer players of the week as Colin Roemer earns the player of the week honor with Luciano Trasolini anchoring the defensive backline to earn the goalkeeper award.
For the second day in a row the Barton Community College men’s soccer team knocked off a ranked opponent as the Cougars’ 7-2 win over No. 6 ranked Trinidad State Junior College completed the Barton Classic sweep held at the Cougar Soccer Complex. Barton notched its first goal just 1:14 into the contest before adding two more net shakers in the opening ten minutes to claim a 5-0 halftime lead before the teams traded goals in second half action. Receiving votes in the national pre-season poll, Barton improves to 3-0 on the young season as Trinidad State leaves Great Bend with a pair of losses dropping to 1-2 on the season. Next up for the Cougars is a trip to Sedalia, Missouri, on Thursday for a 4:00 p.m. kick at State Fair Community College.
The Barton Community College men’s soccer team scored three unanswered goals Friday morning to knock off No. 18 ranked Laramie County Community College 3-1 in the opening game of the Barton Classic. In game two of the Classic, former Barton head coach Oliver Twelvetrees’ No. 11 ranked Eastern Florida State College also pulled a national ranking upset by putting in a late insurance goal in holding off No. 6 Trinidad State Junior College 4-2.
